Gothic Art Now

There is now a preview available.

Not having seen it before publication, I must admit, I was slightly concerned about what caliber artists I might find myself mixed in with, other than Brom. Brom, Bajema, and Santerineross are why I was so incredibly thrilled to be in this piece.

I am pleased to say there are a good number of really amazing works in there – making me feel all the more privileged for being a part of it.

Were I not already getting a copy for free, I’d definitely buy it.

Beth and I are on pages 19 through 21, and the preview starts at chapter 6, so unfortunately we are out of the web preview, all the more reason to check it out (you could see my stuff here) – plenty of interesting artists to look through.

  1. Hi Myke,

Although not a gothic person, I admire some gothic/fantasy artists for their great skill, namely in terms of draughtmanship. Something so much overlooked in other areas of art.
    Congratulations on your achievement.

    Merry Christmas,

    José

    1. Thank you Jose.

Over the years, I have been working at gradually shaking the ‘gothic artist’ label – but given some of the artists in there, I just had to go with it.

Gothic art really does not sell too well online – it tends to just provide for graphics for people to make their web backgrounds and such.

It is too lowbrow for most highbrow galleries, and too highbrow for most Lowbrow galleries – despite that lowbrow has been the norm and commercial for years running and thereby can no longer be ‘edgy’ as such galleries promote themselves.

And shooting towards a small slice of the world, and one where buying paintings is most often just a pipe dream… “someday”… well, I’ve struggled and struggled long and hard – but I feel it is time for me to come into my own as a fantasy artist, and as a surreal artist.

These are two art styles I am suited for, where I can put enough work into each piece that I actually feel good about letting it go.
