These 25 limited edition giclees, are from the first painting in the strange-fiction steampunk art series Airships and Tentacles wherein the works of, concepts of, and influences from Jules Verne and H.P. Lovecraft intermingle. The original painting was commissioned for Robert of Abney Park, and it includes the airship: HMS Ophelia as well as a Jules Vernian submarine, some Lovecraftian influences. Having sold out of all of the full size metallics (20 released), and now all of the giclees on canvas (50 released), I am finally able to release this - the very last of the limited edition prints of this work (25 available). Limited edition of 10 prints. John Strangeway, aka Steampunk Boba Fett hired me to create a more Victorian/Edwardian era craft for him in a painted portrait. This is the result. These reproductions of the original painting, are printed as giclees (prints in archival pigment inks), for truest color and crispness, and printed on canvas, and uv-protected - with an estimated archival rating of 200 years. With many of my pieces, people are more certain that the giclees are the originals, because my original paintings are texture-less and on board. Since the Original Slave 1881 was painted on canvas, these will be very hard to tell from the original painting - in stunning color and detail. I am putting them up at a lower introductory price, because people who see one of these on their wall, will likely want one of their own, which is good for me. Airships and Tentacles Coloring Book

*Reduced until 4-29-2012* (road funds for the Steampunk Symposium trip) Over 30 works of art, on good paper, and in good inks for ease of coloring - printed at a huge 8.5.x11 inches (17 inches wide when open). For a coloring book, these things are pretty huge. I realized when I received these that this book, if not colored in, is pretty much a way to get 30 hang-able prints for under $15, but I am still making it available as a regular item in my store. This is pretty much 75% of the black and white works for the airships and tentacles book, and a good trial run at that piece. In addition to over 30 images to color with colored pencil, I have little bits written about each artwork: My process in some cases, usage in others, just little strange fiction bits in other places - making it something to read as well as view. For those who would like to give this book to a younger person, I made it so that the middle page could be removed, thus removing the two images that depict uncovered breasts. The graphic here, the one we're using for The Infernal Device, is actually from a storybook I wrote several years back and am *slowly* completing. In a way, our current kickstarter for the monumental and huge mechanical art sculpture, is a kickstarter for this book. We plan to win this competition. We have been granted a place to build, access to forklifts, access to welders - and we've gathered lots of parts. We've spotted even more parts, the main ones we need for the build,and we need our kickstarter to succeed so we can buy those parts and ship them to Grand Rapids. When we win the ArtPrize competition, I will be able to actually sit down for a few months with pencil and watercolors, and *finally* finish this book. I am charging a small fee for bandwidth and for my time. If it works out, I'll be doing more of these. There is an image/background only file as Jpeg, if you want to use your program of choice (Word, Picture-it, etc..), but you'll need PhotoShop to open and edit this PSD Template. Use this flier template for your gatherings, bazaars, sales, band shows, meet ups, or even birthday parties/house parties. Any event with under 900 in anticipated attendance can use this flier. Type can be moved around and changed, and you can delete layers and add your own as well. I have set the event name to curve around the airship, and the event location to curve around the bottom. The file is for printout at 8 inches by 10 inches, you can size it up a little, probably as far as 11x17 with no visual/noticable loss of quality. The file is 7.5 Megs, so it won't take a long time to download, seconds if you are on broadband. By downloading, you agree not to redistribute this file, or to sell any part or product of the file, under penalty of law. I will draw on a sepia-tinted sheet of 11x14" bristol board in black graphite and white charcoal. I will make them pretty - because I really cannot bear to let anything go if I do not feel it is worth showing. This means I tend to put way more time than paid for into any work I do for anyone because I am just that picky. I would prefer that these works be steampunk themed, Lovecraftian influenced, alchemical, metaphysical, otherwise spooky and or pulp, I can go for camp as well ... especially if it involves tentacles. I will customize... somewhat. Tell me (in the payment details on the paypal/payment side) something about you or things you like. Don't make it *too* hard on me, I can do most anything, but when there are *too* many specifics, it is no longer art an I become your doodle monkey extension, which isn't what I am going for here. Depending on whether you are the first, or the fifth, that drawing will come to you sooner or later. I'd say allow a month.

The original work is 14x11, painted in acrylic, on acid-free Bristol board, and the prints are identical in size, plus an extra 1 inch of border for easy matting and framing. All are printed on archival fine-art rag paper with a watercolor surface to be as true to the original in color, look, detail, and feel, as a print can possibly be. For now, or rather the first 10 of these prints, I'll be hand-signing these in pencil narrowly within the margin. This work was inspired by the collaborative mural done by Bethalynne Bajema and myself at Destination 1111; I have painted bits of her beautiful mountain city within the landscape for this piece. I also returned to my old two-color painting for this one, mixing brown and blue for a cozy and tranquil muted and misty scene.

Currently on Display at the Wooster Street Social Club in NYC. This is a painting on kiln-dried oak plywood, with maple sides, attached by solid brass hinges to a cherry and mohogany cabinet. It is put together in old-fashioned manner, without the use of screws (except on the hinges), for super-durable and sturdy long-lasting construction. I painted this work with the purpose in mind of making a cabinet, and made the cabinet to suit the painting. This cabinet is also made to look at first glance like a framed painting. Its dimensions are 15x20x4.25 inches. The painting is done in acrylic, with a thin layer of varnish to protect the work. The rest of the cabinet is painted in white latex enamel, varnished, and waxed between the doors to further prevent sticking due to high heat or humidity. It is built to be mounted flush as a (semi) permanent part of your wall (holes are already drilled for this), but can also be hung as artwork by the provided hangers and wire (already attached).

From a commissioned piece, wherein I was asked to do something super-colorful, detailed, and small. The original piece is just under 8x10 inches, as are these prints. Rather than leaning towards abstract, I went the more impressionistic route; In order to get my usual amount of detail into such a tiny package, I took to painstakingly paining ropes and sail-stitches with a single hair, details so tiny they cannot be seen in a web-resolution image. Ghostly vampire squid, jellyfish, and other deep-sea denizens swim through the air, fading away into the distant stars. These are printed on 200 year archival fine art photographic metallic paper in archival pigment inks, coated in a uv, scratch, and moisture resistant coating for added life and durability.

One of my older works, which I only finally got imaged in October of 2010 because of a good number of requests that I do so. It was first shown publicly in September of 2010. A fairly emotional piece, painted during a time when leaving a life and people behind, in search of myself, seemed like the best way to pull through. I can't say any one piece I have done has but one feeling, event, or idea attached to it - a piece tends to gather thoughts and concepts like a snowball on an incline. This piece is no different there: Somewhere in the completion of this piece, the chalk outlines seemed like the perfect finish, inspired by a scene from Eric Adams' Lackluster World (Eric is a long time friend of mine from my hometown of Cincy), so I expanded on that thought a little through the completion of the piece. These giclees are printed on fine art rag paper in archival pigment inks. They are limited to only 20 made. They are full-sized (16x20), hand-signed, numbered, and dated (very subtly) within the margin of the print.

I have hand-made a wooden frame for this piece, stained it with a few coats of red mahogany, and sealed the frame with varnish for a very sturdy, very rustic and elegant looking piece. The full size of the framed piece is 36x36 inches. I am offering it ridiculously cheap because the face is that of an ex of mine, and my fiancee doesn't want it hanging anywhere. It is a beautiful piece, and a lot of work - the work I put into making the frame alone is worth this price.

The Assemblage this comes from is a sort of dark carnival and Miskatonic feeling piece, made to feel much like all the occult ephemera of the late 1800s/early 1900s, a time when mysticism was for city-dwellers was becoming quite the fashion - though I often pull from real references when making these sorts of pieces, I do not imply that they have any actual magickal properties or serious reference value. They are more "camp" for fans of the ooky-spooky.

Red Hand Assemblage

Currently on Display at the Wooster Street Social Club in NYC. This artwork is three in one. The box/dual frame: I labored hard for well-over a week on the box, which is a very sturdy hand-built, hand-stained, hand-varnished, hand-waxed chunk of quality hardwood (heartwood select pine base and birch sides). It not only serves as a box (if you would want to use it as such a thing), but as a self-contained double frame fr both of the enclosed artworks ("Red Right Hand" and "Weaving Spiders Come Not Here") which requires no wall hanging. The box has two decorative hinges with a decorative patina on the spine edge if it; The latching mechanism is self-made from another smaller version of these hinges, combined with three solid brass model cannons from a model ship. The latch holds the piece securely shut, but opens easily when you want it to with a slight squeeze of the box and an easy flip of the thumb. The same I would say of their tight-fitting suits of alternating dark and light colored diamond-shaped patches. Their eyes were hidden behind crusted and blood-soaked screens within the eye-slats of their heavy bronze bird-like masks; One could only wonder how it was they managed to see, and see so well, in the darkness which had become theirs and theirs alone. These bloody harlequins were said to be servants of some ancient and un-namable horror, a master of the ocean coasts, and now lord of the night - his eyeless and tentacled visage drawn in blood and human entrails on the southerly faces of each and every building, of each and every mass-murdered town. The Sepia Stains Tarot is a complete tarot deck with original artwork for both the major and minor arcana by Bethalynne Bajema (and back of card art by Myke Amend) . The cards are roughly three by five inches in size and printed on lightweight but study card stock with a thin lamination. Right now, we're self publishing this deck in small runs - the demand is high, but our funding for printing limited, and so the runs are small and disappear quickly. Even though we are self publishing, the decks are beautiful and very professional looking - printed on acid free 12pt coated cover stock and coated in a UV-protective coating. We're quite proud of this project :)

I am pricing these so cheap because I am finally freed up to do work now that the first Infernal Device build is wrapped up, I need to catch up by doing another round of commissions. Commissions will take three months to paint, image, package, and deliver, so I can put the amount of work into them that they deserve in between all of my other work. I will, if you give me a subject you would like an image of, do it in my own style as I think it would look best, and I'll do a great job of it. Portraits, and character sketches, are not something I will do for this small a price, because they don't tend to sell well as prints. This is the scene as I first imagined it in my head: not the more-accurate representation out of the two images, but my favorite.

In the novel, the main character is rather un-phased by his flight; This however is a more dramatic piece, as I would imagine the reactions of the other children taken. I also used the demon of the scarier first-draft visage I imagined (in the book, the demons aren't meant to be so frightening).

I was stranded in an ice storm in deepest, darkest Missouri at the time - power was out almost statewide, weeks I in our region. This image is the only image where my "no later editions" rule does not apply, but later editions will not be like this edition.

The image for this piece is changed each year - I add new touches to it, work on it a little bit more - typically, but not always near New Year's Eve.

Previous versions had less straps and buckles, different effects on the hair, etc... it is an ongoing evolving print.

Last year's prints of this image will never again be available, nor the year prior, etc.. and I might not always sell the entire run. The imahe for the previous year is destroyed in the process of making the image for the new year.

This image was the cover for the upcoming September/October issue of Gatehouse Gazette, an excellent dieselpunk, pulp, horror, sci fi, steampunk mag if you aren't already reading it.

The original pen and ink has been colored in acrylic paint, scanned at 900 DPI in 48 bit color, and reproduced true to the original on paper nearly identical to that of the original piece.

Metallic prints have a *slight* metallic sheen underneath the ink, much like antique silver prints or tintypes would look like if they had colored inks in those days. The result is a brilliant image with a magnificent depth added by the slight under-reflection.

When the last of the royal fleet fell fiery into the waiting fog and mist, we were sure we were home free; It was then that we spotted the temple, which was not fashioned, but formed in molten fire of shimmering basalt. There it stood, millennia-old, perched atop hexagonal pillars, calling to be explored. A finely detailed pirate airship in a fog of wispy swirls and whorls passes by a ages-forgotten temple in the cliff-top mists. The original is 12x9 inches, highly detailed, micro-fine line engraving; Though it translates well to screen resolution, looking at the prints or the original are an entirely new experience. The Metallics are open edition and printed on heavy archival professional metallic photographic paper. "Open Edition" is not a guarantee that I will carry them forever, or even for years - but simply stating that they are available, for as long as I choose to offer them. Though not limited and signed, they are beautiful prints - and like everything I sell, very high quality, and 80 to 200 years archival (depending on uv exposure).

This is the fifth painting in the strange-fiction steampunk art series "Airships and Tentacles" wherein the works of, concepts of, and influences from Jules Verne and H.P. Lovecraft intermingle.

This one leans a lot more toward my old surreal style, with some elements of older paintings hidden within the sands, such as a sand-storm buried nautilus, and strange shells woven into the stone. The somewhat serene piece is offset and accented by a very active lightning field in the distant background - cages on chains float like balloons on the horizon, a strange sphynx guards the pass, and shadows become starry skies. There are many more hidden details within this piece, and I only outlined the more obvious ones - as with all my paintings, this is an image you can revisit many times of many days to find new and equally strange things within.

This is the scene as I first imagined it in my head: not the more-accurate representation out of the two images, but my favorite.

In the novel, the main character is rather un-phased by his flight; This however is a more dramatic piece, as I would imagine the reactions of the other children taken. I also used the demon of the scarier first-draft visage (in the book, the demons aren't meant to be so frightening).

There are 25 limited edition giclees available, printed in high quality 200-year archival pigment inks upon fine high white-point fine art rag paper for the best and most vivid representation of this piece. ** Damage notes. 2 of these prints were damaged in shipping to me. Each of their edges are only very slightly bent, in a 1.25 inch-long spot along the bottom-most edge, only 1/16th of an inch deep... practically unnoticeable, except to a very, very picky artist.

Framed, or even matted, these damages would be invisible, and vacuum-pressed in the mounting process, I am pretty sure the damage would disappear altogether. These are a part of the limited edition, and come certified, numbered, and serialized as the rest of the edition.

This is the second painting in the strange-fiction steampunk art series "Airships and Tentacles" wherein the works of, concepts of, and influences from Jules Verne and H.P. Lovecraft intermingle.

The original painting was commissioned for Josh Pfeiffer of Vernian Process, and it includes the HMS Gadreel above an icy sea investigating a strange and perhaps long-forgotten and possibly alien craft. Ghostly figures twist and turn within the mists, clouds, icebergs, and waves.

The printed area on this metallic print is 34x17 inches, made to match the size constraints of the 36x24 inch "the Rescue" Metallic prints. The limited run of metallics for "the Rescue" sold out in a week, which saddened me a bit because I didn't even get to keep one for myself and because ; felt a bit bad for the people who wanted them but couldn't get them. So, instead of a limited run of 20 + II, I am doing a Limited run of 50 for these.

This fine engraving depicts a rather Lovecraftian creature of the deep embracing a submersible craft, much like the Nautilus of Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Atop the oceanic mountain in the far background rests an ancient and forgotten temple, marked at its entrance by the sigil of Dagon. Though small, these engravings are so incredibly detailed, that no web image could ever do them justice. Rest assured, this is a very fine piece of work, and very skillfully crafted.Properly matted and framed, it would make an excellent addition to any space. I was stranded in an ice storm in deepest, darkest Missouri at the time - power was out almost statewide, weeks I in our region. I was reading whatever books were handy, and thinking of someone who was on the other side of 20 miles of fallen trees, darkness, and panicked people. These particular scene out of C.S. Lewis Perelandra struck an accord with me.

Painted at 49x32 inches, in acrylic on rough canvas this original painting is a haunting, serene, and equally strange piece, with bizarre lighting and shadow effects which make some objects and figures seem to lean out of the painting. This surreal piece is heavily-influenced by Spirit Walking (or long-term sleep deprivation I like to call it), and took me nearly a week of standing, leaving the painting only for restroom breaks. My knees buckled whenever micro-naps threatened, and I painted up to just an hour before my big art show - which I ended up sleeping through, and through an additional several days. In the weeks that followed, my roommates complained of seeing things walking the hallways, things that I had seen staring at me while I painted, and had never mentioned. I am agnostic, but with my religious views mostly leaning toward physics and quantum physics anymore. Still, I am a bit superstitious when it comes to this piece. I've always felt that this piece had some rather strange energy to it, coupled with memories of a rather eerie and dreary experience, like I somehow made that residual energy cling to this piece, bound a part of myself to it. I suppose I do that with all works in a sense, such is a part of art - but there always feels to be something more to this one. Though people really seem to love this piece when they see it in person, at home it remains stored away in the basement - waiting to be sold.

This is the Latest painting and the eighth work in the collection Airships and Tentacles wherein Vernian and Lovecraftian influences intermingle. The work was originally commissioned as a book cover for Cherie Priest, Author of Bone Shaker, for her new book Clementine, and it includes the Clementine sailing away from a stranded group of pirates after a strange air battle. It is 36 inches by 24 inches in acrylic, on canvas.

This is the fourth painting in the strange-fiction steampunk art series "Airships and Tentacles" wherein the works of, concepts of, and influences from Jules Verne and H.P. Lovecraft intermingle.

The airship is set against a calm and cloudy sky, and white stone mountains, in the mid ground blow blossoms from the foreground trees, tentacles subtly hidden within the flowers, trees, mist and fog.

The pink tentacles, scarlet flowers, and protruding ship mast would make Freud very happy; The warm colors of this piece make for a light and open feel, and the subtle earthen tones will pull this work together with most any decor scheme.

As rich in detail as it is in mystery, this piece was acquired by the Miskatonic Archive through metaphysical and electronical means due to a strange glitch in the aether, and perhaps in turn due to a faulty tube or misplaced artifact.

It bears the seal and sigil of one "Myke Amend", a strange being, presumed to be an artificer from neither future nor past nor present, but someplace sideways and otherly.
