Originals: My most known works are paintings (mostly in acrylic but some are oil), and engravings. I do most of my paintings on birch or mahogany, adding twenty layers of gesso, sanding every few layers until I have a nearly-mirror-smooth surface. I hit it with sandpaper again so it will have some bite for the paint, and then I take to painting in micro-thin layers – hundreds of them in most spots for smooth and clear colors and detail not normally seen in acrylic paintings. When I am not painting, or doing custom woodwork/carpentry, I do engraving. Most of my engravings are on Ampersand Art Clayboard Black – which is a thick layer of tempered hardboard, coated in pH-nuetral white clay and India ink. I also, sometimes, engrave in wood or copper.
For many of my original works, I have hand-made my own frames for them, or have framed them for showings or our studio. I don’t always remember to list this, but if you would like the price better if the painting was shipped framed, write me. Chances are it is already framed, but if not I might be able to work that into the deal.
Giclees: The closest to the original works you could possibly get in color, depth, and resolution. Most people who see my paintings side by side with the giclees, point to the giclee as the original work.
Most of my works are painted on board, in hundreds of micro-thin layers, to avoid any piling or texture. They are smooth, with no wood grain or canvas showing through – so, as spectacular as the canvas prints are – I would have to say that the giclees on paper are actually closer in appearance to the originals for this reason.
Canvas Giclees are printed on Acid-Free Canvas (21 mil thick, 430 g/m²) in archival pigment inks with a semi-gloss uv resistant, moisture-resistant coating. The canvas is a professional grade bright white, poly-cotton canvas. The poly-cotton weave provides more resistance to humidity and shrinkage over time. Archival rating: Fade resistant to about 200 years.
Giclees on Art Paper: Printed in the same great pigment inks as the canvas giclees, but on a a thick (21-mil) heavy weight (310g) acid-free paper in the style of traditional artists’ papers. Prints are colorful, detailed, vibrant, and long-lasting to about 150 years.
Books: I only have the coloring book available right now. If you are not into coloring, it is still a great way to get 30-some printings of my black and white works.
Posters, Tee Shirts, Onesies, Hoodies, Calendars, Stickers and more: I handle those through RedBubble now. They are less expensive than my limited edition fine art prints, but still really quality reproductions – available at large sizes, on metallic paper as well as on poster paper. You can even order them matted and/or framed.
