Purchasing
This page applies only to the purchase of original artworks, and not to the many prints and giclees available in the store.
The purchase and ownership of an original work of art is a unique sort of investment, and there are many elements which affect the value of the purchased work. These include the buyer, the level of skill and proficiency, the medium, the work’s position within a larger group of works, the work’s content, subject matter or intended meaning, or any combination of these factors.
Artworks are can be purchased for enjoyment, investment, or for philanthropy, but with any of these reasons come responsibilities to the world, and to history.
An artwork’s value increases with the artist’s personal involvement in its making, as does the value of reproductions and prints. For example, many prominent artists release limited edition prints, though often with no involvement by the artist whatsoever outside of having created the original work. Though many boast a signature or seal, they do not necessarily imply that it is hand-signed, let alone hand-signed by the artist.
Myke Amend’s hand embellished and hand-signed giclees are hand-embellished and hand-signed by the artist, making each a unique work of art. Smaller editions and larger prints, aside from being signed and dated, come with a certificate of authenticity printed on Hahnemuhle fine art paper, and matching serialized holograms are affixed to both certificate and artwork. For all limited editions, no editions of matching size and support type will ever be issued - there will be no reprints, no second editions, no “special editions” after the fact.
You can also be assured that if you have purchased a 48×24 inch hand-signed giclee on canvas, there will never be a 50×26 inch hand-signed and hand-embellished giclee on canvas, or even a 44×22 inch open edition giclee on canvas - as Myke would like you to feel confident that you are buying the best edition of its kind, and that the edition is unique. No edition following any edition will ever be more spectacular or as spectacular as those already released, or even remotely similar.
